It would be nice to be cheaper but at least for $600 you show up and pick it up and don't have to spend time disassembling which would probably take a few hours. What is your time worth? Sometimes it is just easier to go the easy route.IMHO.
D
A few hours to take out about a dozen or so bolts?? Took me 40-min tops.
I am in the process of installing a 78 TA / camero snub in my 65 short box. Its a good front end and you can get them pretty cheap. I know its GM but at least its old iron. I an also putting a 32 valve 4.6 Lincoln motor in also. It should be interesting. I will have everything I am taking out for sale shortly. I beam disc brakes from MP brakes, all of my twinIBeam stuff will go to, and it is very clean, cal black plate clean. Plus a 351c 4v w/C6 also for sale right now.Call 262-352-4883 for more info.
If your using a 4.6 Ford motor, why not simplify it and use the 03+ CV front end??? It`s a no-brainer and already has the engine mounting pads in the right location. You get a cleaner looker front-end,with larger brakes, rack and pinion steering, less weight, etc, etc. And no need to modify the engine mounts...a bolt-in with the engine you are using.
The aftermarket world for drop spindles and suspension is much larger. The cost of tie rods, brakes, springs is very affordable and the cost of the snub was half of the 03 CV.The subframe width blends well with the frame width of the truck. I dont like the nongreasible tierod ends, ball joints and soforth of the CV front end. I know were there is a couple TA snubs for 150 to 300, I got lucky, mine was free. That is why I used it.
I read the the thread on the 03CV install and it is impressive. Lucky for me I have not cut my frame yet for ta snub. You might have changed my mind. Thanks. If There is anyone that has done this reactly I would apprecate the info.
