08 Gear Selector Illumination

Anyone know how the Gear Selector Illumination works in the 08 Superduty? The factory color indicator is RED. I would like to change it to Green. My eyes are used to alerting on Red in my instrument cluster as being a problem. Very annoying to have the Gear Selector in that color.

Appreciate any information about this.

Thanks in advance...

I thought I was the only one with this problem. Took me 2 months to get use to the red "D" when driving.

Six weeks or so since new on mine and same issue, I'm always double checking that its not a warning lamp. Considering that I recently had to remove the dash face/cluster on my '97 Ranger just to rebulb instrument lighting I'm not inclined to experiment with a modification on my SD but I'm thinking a transluscent film affixed over the indicator may darken or change the color enough that it won't be as obnoxious.

Had mine for 15 months....still cannot get used to it. Hope some one can come up with solution for this aggravating problem in an otherwise excellent truck.
