Chase, I have all 3 varieties.. Blue, black and gray..
I have messed with them too, the blue had a strong enough magnet to pick a kitchen knife up off the table into the air. The black will lift it up, but won't pick it up off the table before letting go. The gray one has such a week magnet it barely even moves the knife at all..
