Hardware or software problems?

When I turn on my laptop; it runs for 3 or 4 seconds then quits. The indicator lite on the power button stays lit but everything else is dead. After a few minutes the cooling fan starts to cycle. After 15 -20 mins. the laptop starts to come to life and everything is fine.

It first did this Friday morning. I deleted a bunch of old programs and restored to an earlier date. It worked fine all day Saturday. This morning it went through the dead routine again.

Any ideas?

It does sound like hardware.. Could be memory or could be heat related..

when it is running does the fan run loud??

If it does it probably needs to be cleaned out.. You can try blowing it out, but the best way is to have it opened and cleaned..
