Ok guys ive got a 90 bronco 2 that i will be adding a set of dual driving lights,as well as a sound system, and a few other electrical things....problem is noone makes a higher output alt. for these things, and i need more than 80 amps!!! i work at an advance auto and was looking at an alt. for a 90 mustang gt and other than the mounting ear being in a different spot all the plugs and everything are the same.....so heres my idea, buy a high output alt for a 90 mustang and swap out the front part of the case so it will bolt up to my truck, the bolt holes on the case and everything are identical!! the only difference in the alternators is the angle of the mouting ear...enclosed is a pic...tell me what yall think!!!!
Who doesn't sell a higher-output alternator for the 2.9? I could have sworn I saw some on Summit. Anyhow, that should work. I think I recall seeing where someone used the 'stang alternator as is and made it work. Let us know how it turns out

I bought a new 160 amp unit for my BII to power the snowplow and extra lights, etc....picked it up on eBay cheap.....you have to run a 4 ga battery cable direct to the battery......runs cool compared to the stock unit, and powers everything turned on at once!
Why 160 amp? I looked up brand new F250/F350 Super Dutys with the plow option and they come with a 140 amp unit.
