I was looking around under the truck this a.m. and I noticed the starter. Man that thing is small. Is is a high torque model or what? The one on my 4 banger s10 is bigger.

They must be too small. My truck goes thru them like fuel. 5 starters in 7 yrs.....not bad huh..
Might want to check ofr a dirty ground or a damaged hot supply wire. Too low of voltage can kill a motor prematurely.
I don't think you'll see that kind of "lack of performance" with the DB unit. That thing spins the engine like crazy. It has an extra tooth on the starter gear, which by itself increases spin. Then add to that the bigger motor. Sometimes, I almost think mine spins TOO fast.

i expect one of these mornings when i hit the key..my truck will do the spining around rather then the flywheel..this starter is amazing in the dead of winter..
I really want one of them Cory has one on his truck and it spins over alot faster then mine but dang it is huge and it can hit your cross member if you goose it hard enough.

Yea it can, apparently even though I ground on the cross member, and allowed about 1/4'' or a little more room between them, when you get on it preeetty hard going up a hill passing a ricer trying to race you, the motor will torque enough for the back casing to hit the cross member and crack in half

Wow... that's the first I've heard of that situation taking place. I only have about 1/8" clearance on mine, but it is also at a point where the motor housing is rounded, which I hope would allow some deflection of force. Even then, I guess the strain would still cause a problem at the next weakest link in its construction. I need to think about this some more.
