Idle Speed
What is the normal idle speed? also, what do u guys think would be the lowest idle speed safely permitable, to allow for enough upper lubrication, etc. i out of habit(i used to drive truck) idle mine a fair amount, so less idle rpms = less fuel burned

i think my dads 7.3 idles something like 550 or 600 on the low idle, and 900 on high idle, i dont know what mine idles cause my tach dont work

Nope, 750 is way too high - factory asks for 650 or 675 (+/- 50) curb idle, with the slushbox this means trans in gear and foot on the brake, like when you're waiting at a red light. I have mine set at 500 cold, goes up to 600 or so when it warms up good. My high idle is 900 cold, and at least 1000 (sometimes a bit more, depends on the day) with the angine fully warmed up, but I have modified the linkage geometry so I can get 200 rpms more than the factory setup.
