Justin, give this guy a call. He can save you a lot of money on your mods. His name is Clay and he is a great standing member of our family here in the 7.3 forum. I just got an e-mail from him saying my AE should be here Saturday. His phone # is in this link. He will help you out with anything you need. Start saving money, Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts.

I've put more thought towards it than you might think...

I want to keep the stock turbo and injectors as long as possible. A ball bearing turbo (GTP38R) would definitely be a nice upgrade, but I'm not yet sure at what point bigger hardware is required. I need to do a lot more reading.

As for the tune it seems DP Tuner is very popular here. Besides that I am also looking into DIY custom tuning via the TwEECer. I have self-tuned my car (2005 STi, 350 HP and 400 TQ to the wheels) so I've already got the laptop, wideband, etc.

The only dumb questions here are the ones that you don't ask. In no time you'll be suffering from PMS and wanting to join PAA. Once you start you cannot stop......and that's not a bad thing, only to your wallet!
Thanks for the advice. Is the stock trans temp gauge in the dash not adequate?

The stock trans gauge lies to you.Someone has a thread and pictures of the factory gauge and actual gauge and you can see the difference when they are driving.
