You're right, its in a automatic transmission. The SUNPRO sanner code #98 says its the o2 sensor reading lean during "OR" the EPC circuit failure. I got a manual so its got to be the o2 sensor huh?
I put on a new MAP sensor, run it a while, check engine did not come on but still not running quite right then I got the code #98 and #22 when I did the KOER runnig test. I have sence erased the codes by unhooking the battery and did another KOER running test and got 42, EGO voltage signal always "rich"(high value), 34 EVP sensor or EGR PFE sensor out of self- test specification limits or signal voltage above closed limit duringnormal engine operation, or signal indicates insufficient EGR flow and 52, which is power steering pressure switch circuit is open or nochange detected.( not worried about right now) So do I need a new EGR and a o2 sensor or what? But I am still getting #34 on KOEO test.
THe code 34 means your sensor is reading higher than the expected voltage. It may simply be you need a new position sensor ontop of the egr or the egr is holding itself open.
It is holding itself open. What would cause that? Vacume? I unhook the vacume line from the EGR and it runs perfect.
It runs perfect until it starts to warm up, then it starts to spit and sputter, but when I unplug the vacume from the EGR,it runs perfect. Is the EGR supposed to open when cold or warm?
Definitely sounds like you may have a bad EVP, check it's output against the chart at www.fordfuelinjection.com and replace it if it doesn't match. Ignore code 42 until you can eliminate the other problems because they are enough to make the motor run open loop which is rich.
