What you were asking about was the 4 terminal switch that that used to be on the passenger side fender, Part # sw1 or sw3. on all powerstroke engines the actual starter solonoid is mounted on the starter and this device throws the drive into the ring gear as it completes the connection to battery power allowing the starter to recieve electricity thus allowing it to rotate and turn over the engine. ford finally figured out that this solonoid can be controlled by a small relay, and to save money and weight, went that rout on the 6.0's ( The other manufactures have been doing this for a long time on their diesel pick-ups and vans). Soooo, If your looking for the thing that used to be on the fender, do what I told you to.
