Hi all, im looking to buy a 91 F.250 4x4 5 speed reg cab, body is in good shape for the year with new front fenders, 130,000 miles, 5.8 liter rebuilt with 20,000 miles on it, needs tires, it has 3.55 gears full float rear end non limited slip says the code on the door jamb, its got a western plow, the guy says he can get 300 for it for scrap, says he will sell it to me for 500, i want to offer him 400 for it, its been sitting for a couple years, wat do you all think
the problems he knows about it are the floor heat function doesnt work, the steering coulmn is messed up, he has the title, so i figure tires, new gas tanks and all new brake lines and i should have a decent plow truck for around 1500 bucks including my price for the truck

 

I would go with the 400 offer, doesn't sound like a bad deal, I paid five for mine (95 f150 supercab,351,e4od) it had 213000 miles on it when I bought it two years ago and it just now started giving me a little trouble, so I would say there is a lot of life left in that 91

Around here anything that run you can easly get $500 for its a steal go for it!!!

 

Being since it is a plow truck, I would check the frame for scaling rust or rust throughs. But the motor, trans, and drivetrain you can get more than 500 for if it was pulled from the truck on craigslist, it is a steal either way.

 

The odometer is only 5 digits. I'd question the miles. Most likely 230,000 miles or more.

Since he's replaced the engine, that kind of confirms the truck probably has higher mileage.

Sounds like a decent deal but why wouldn't he sell the plow by it self for $500 and sell the truck for $300 to the junk yard?

Probably the frame is rotted out.

i would add at least another 500 bucks to the $1500 you think it will be to get it running for misc. things it will need.

maybe shocks, maybe spring hangers, oil pump/pick up screen, oil pan, radius rod bushings, exhaust, cost of good tuneup parts, maybe everything that does not like to sit unused for many years.
