I have a Sct Livewire on my 06 350. For the past couple of weeks it's been spitting and sputtering when it's cold. I checked for dtc's and it came back a few times that all 8 cylinders had low circuit or something like that. The livewire was locking up and wouldn't let me switch between tune types so yesterday I had to reinstall the firmware on the SCT and I noticed fuse #40 was blown. Today out of nowhere the truck completely shut down and wont start at times and sometimes it'll start just for a few seconds. I did another dtc scan and it gave me p2290 which is from what I have read the high pressure oil pump. Anyone care to suggest what I look at first? The idm or the high pressure oil pump??????
I would suggest you search this forum as this has been disscused time and time again. You will get all the info you need I think and quicker. I was experiencing a similar problem and searched as well as posted and my search was a lot faster as far as getting to the root of the problem. I found out that my IPR was going out. Of course now I think my pump is going as well. Good luck and I hope you find your answer. I am sure someone will chime in eventually.
All eight is very often the IDM or FICM on the 6.0L.There have been a lot of failures in the last 6 or so months. Have you been to the dealer for service in the last 6 months? Here is one of the many threads. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ll-victim.html
The last time I had it in the shop was like September for the EGR cooler and the head gasket. Is there anyway to tell which is bad between the idm and the ficm?
Yeah it's still under warranty but the last time I brought it in I had to take the exhaust off and since it's last visit I put stacks on the stupid thing so I'm looking to try to handle this myself or bring it to a mechanic that wont stick it to me.

Try asking your local FTE chapter for a mod friendly dealer in your neck of the woods.
I called the dealer and they have 1 for $900 in stock. Called the local mechanic that I know and he can program it tomorrow for $99.95. Next question, the IDM is the silver thingy on top of the valve cover on the driver side right?
if it were me i'd be taking the stacks off and taking it down for warranty. i didnt think exhaust would void a warranty?.is it worth 900 bucks to take the exhaust off?.just my 2 cents.
LMAO Idk what it's like by everyone else but in the New Orleans area, NOBODY likes to work and everytime I've brought my truck in its been there no less than 3 weeks. So yeah it's well worth spending 1k and doing this myself to be able to drive my truck by tomorrow. Not to mention I'm driving to Talladega in a few weeks for the race and I know they wont have it ready by then. Also the last time it went in and I got it back, The sensor on the air box was broke, they broke the plastic bracket that holds the plug that goes to the fan clutch which finally got chopped off, several plastic pins hold little things together are missing and there are a few nuts and blots missing. EWWWWWW and the time before that, lol I turned the radio on and SOMEBODY was playing with my stero and had the bass waaaaaaay to high up and I still don't know how they didn't blow my sub....
There is someone on ths forum (IIRC) selling a used FICM for VERY reasonable! You may want to start a thread with the request for a used FICM in the title (I guess I am just too old to remember who). There are several other Forums that you could post on as well. Let me know and I can direct you if it would help.
if your'e going to talladega in a few weeks to see gordon mop the floor with 'em then all bets off......get that sucker fixed, and fast!.(and find a different dealer to take it to)

Soooo my impaitentness has bit me in the butt chops again. I had the idm changed, wasn't that. Changed the high pressure oil pump, that was actually bad. The quick connect looking thing on the end was bareley on. Everything is back together but it still wont fire up. I have a feeling they messed something up swapping the idm's. Anyone have any input out there?
