My Father's was built 1/76, and a F-100. So this might be possible.

My book is inconclusive. It just shows their were parts avaliable, 1976-1979 etc...

A lot of times, while the emissions standards were applied to a vehicle based on its model year, safety standards were applied based on the calendar year that the vehicle was built. I used to have a 1972 Duster that was built in 1971 and it did not have some of the safety features that were on those built after 1/1/72.

I know this isn't a good way to determine, but the 1976 pickups brochure didn't show/list shoulder belts. Maybe it became standard midyear. I always thought 1977 was the first year for the shoulder belts.

1968 was the first year it was optional. On the 1968-1972 trucks, the cabs have rubber plugs for the shoulder mounts, if not equipped.

I'm also thinking midyear for the 1976.

I have 2 76's setting out here in the driveway. The F-100 Explorer has the shoulder belts, the F-150 Custom lap belts only. Maybe they were part of certain package options? I would like to have the shoulder belts inthe F-150 as it is my daily driver but not sure how to go about fitting them

My '76 SC has lap belts only and the speedo goes to 100mph. I wish it had shoulder belts and I got no rubber plugs either or they'd be there already.

Yeah they stopped attaching the mounts to the cabs in 1972. Why no rubber plugs after 1972. They were still an option after 1972, however. On trucks equipped after 1972, They drill a hole in the sheetmetal with a reinforcement on the other side where the shoulder belt screws into it, simular to the supercabs with shoulder belts. Not sure how Ford or the dealer accomplished this though.
