what would make this happen, ive been having vibrations for awhile then this morning i was drivin and heard a "crack" sound and the vibration went away, lol but then my clutch started actin up, whats the actual cause of this, i guess this happened to last owner, about six months ago.
Only time I've seen bellhousings cracked is fomr clutch explosions. Usually you will have chuks of bellhousing missing with a clutch explosion though, and in general catastrophic damage, exit wounds in body, extreme engine/crank damage when teh flywheel lets go, etc...
Maybe poor bellhousing alignment? That could cause a vibration, but shouldn't be a problem with stock parts so long as they were machined properly.
Iv seen TWO cracked housings due to bad motor mounts.... ONe on my 91 4.9 and the other on a 94 4.9 both 150's (both clutches were fine undtill the cracked housing then they went quick... Good luck
I have a cracked 460 bell housing. It cracked because I made the mistake of using a hole in the bell to tie the motor down in the back of my truck. Good thing I didn't need it.
