i figured it out by accident, having to shut down at a drive thru and re start in neutral. hang around and you'll learn all kinds of cool stuff.

So what if you start it in Neutral and it still surges?? Then it wouldn't be the trans range sensor correct?

If its not the TRS ,it is usually ICP or may also be EOT sensor , sometimes a sticky IPR..

Thanks, I'd have to check again, but I'm pretty sure mine surges in Neutral as well as in Park. Like the OP, its only for a few seconds and quits as soon as I bring the RPM's up a little.
