just last week i did the "upper" tie rods. the one that connects to the pitman arm. anyway i replaced both tie rods and the adjusting sleeve, ($140) total.
i measured to old length and had the old one to match up exactly with.
well the truck seemed to drive straight even without my hand on the wheel, and stopped "pretty" straight when i braked.
a few days later my friend who works at a shop told me to bring it in an he'd align it for me, he put it on the machine and showed my how it was very much out of alignment, (on the computer screen), and after it was done it drives the *****. better than i would have imagined.
Well could it be that I have some slop in my steering box shaft that attaches to the pitman arm and thats actually what is giving me the movement that I'm seeing ! How can a heavy duty pitman arm wear out in less than a year !!!
