The stud girdle is a good idea if you are going to run very high horsepower and rpm. You will need a custom oil pan to clear the girdle.
I purchased a roller rocker setup from Rocker Arm Specialists. I like the one piece shaft support.
The "girdle" is probably a slight improvement, but probably not worth it for a "Street" motor. I've seen them, but not installed them, so not sure what kinda snags you could encounter. I would doubt it's a "bolt on" apparatus(nothing ever is).
Decent rockers are always a good upgrade. Some are better quality(size wise, ratio's), but anything is better then stock non-adjustables.
Too bad you have limited machine shops over on the island. That makes it double hard to put a good quality build together. My first build many years back was started at local car wash(ya, don't try that much anymore-they tend to get upset), degreasing and acid bathing my block.
before rebuilding the stock heads i want to check some upgrades.i called garrett in oregon but didnt get an answer.then survival motorsports but they were already closed for the day,i have the time difference here in hawaii.
does anyone know where to buy complete aluminium heads,on the west coast if possible?
if i was to rebuild the stock ones i would spend almost $1100 ,and still had iron heads.any ideas on prices?
i just talked to a garrett machine shop and he suggested to use the iron heads instead of the aluminium ones.and change the intake (performer rpm)for a victor or blue thunder.
averall $1300 for machine work,1400 for a complete set of roller rockers ,500 for valves and whatever the intake cost.
plus the shipping of the heads from hawaii to oregon and back.
