truck was running rough and no power. pulled up 1237 and 1277 and I understand it has to do with injectors 3 and 7 but is it an electrical problem or fuel? thanks
Welcome to FTE. 1273 & 1277 maybe? Tell us more about your truck. Year, model, CA emissions, etc. What did you use to pull these codes? Sounds like you've got a CA truck since most of us would just get a P1316 for this. Is your truck running real rough?
Anyway, the common issue that causes something like this is a loose plug. All you need to do is plug it back in. To check this, look at the inboard side of the passenger side valve cover and you'll see a long flat connector that plugs into the valve cover gasket. Unplug that connector and you'll find 9 pins inside there. Grab a multi-meter that can read ohms and check the front 2 pins and back 2 pins against a good ground looking for a reading less that 2 ohms. Then check the 3rd, 4th, 6th, & 7th pin against the center 5th pin for a reading less than 5 ohms. More than likely you'll need to pull the passenger side valve cover and plug the connector back in.
Thanks Chris, yep its a cali truck, 2000, F-350. One of my buddies pulled the codes, looked like the obd ll scanner was snap-on brand. He is not a diesel guy, so he wasn't much help. I found the connector you are referencing, looks like I will be removing the the air to air tube and a couple of heater hoses to get to it, tomorrow in the daylite. thanks again, Mo
thanks Chris, you were dead on, pulled the valve cover today, plugged her back in, shimmed the plug with a Philippines Peso, so it was a cheap fix, 1 peso=.02 American, took the truck out and ran up the grade with power to spare! thanks again for your help! Mo
Thanks for reporting back with what you found. Sometimes we're just left to wonder. Stick around. There's lots of good info around here, and before long you'll get to know some of the regulars. We're not all that bad. Besides, now you already know the answer to one question that someone will ask again in the future. I'm also willing to bet that Peso is quite a bit cheaper than what a dealer would have charged you to fix this.
