Ok i have 3800 miles on my truck and i've had it since December. Never had this before but i was driving about 75 mph for about 40 min and decided to stop and get something to drink. I turned the truck off for 15 minutes. Once back in the truck I hit the on ramp and was running about 30mph, then gave her 3/4 throttle trying to hit speed when power went way down for about 3 seconds. It felt like a big hesitation or someting. I let off the gas then applied it again and all was well. Then 2 hours later got back in the truck to drive home. Total drive 1 hour. About 30 mins into the trip i mashed the gas while running about 65 mph just to see if it would accelerate but it did it again. Mashed gas again and same thing once more. Then rest of the way home no problems. It was about 60F and raining outside. I had regened about 50 miles prior to the first incident earlier in the day. Anyone have any ideas. Truck has always ran perfect till this. Also, i drain the fuel line each month as the manual specifies so don't think water is an issue. Please help! Also, i don't have the latest flash on my job 3 yet.
Sounds like you're sucking in the rain. I've had that happen before. Others in this forum have described similar symptoms. If you're not opposed to aftermarket ( assuming you're stock now), get a different CIA.
Mine does the same thing when it's rainy or very humid outside.
I have noticed the pattern and I do it on purpose to reinforce my conclusion. When it's rainy and humid you can put your foot down and feel the hesitation and the "jitters" in the motor. It's even worse when you have extra weight of a trailer behind you.
You'll see today, sunny and dry air, that your truck will be fine.
Now that I have the Edge Insight I can see that the motor won't develop 100% load in the rain, at least not with aggression, you can really ease into it and get it.

So does an aftermarket cold air intake solve the problem? If so does it void my warranty or is there any other downsides besides cost?
Going w/ an aftermarket CIA helped me. It also changed my regen frequency from 200-250 miles to 700 miles. Technically, it SHOULDN'T void your warranty. If it were to cause Ford part to fail, then yes it would. Refer to Moss- Magnusson act, which has been tossed back & forth on this forum in the past. Best bet is to talk to your dealership. Some, if not most, have no problem with it ( including mine ). Others do.
thanks guys for the info. Senix, did yours do the same as mine before the CAI? I drove my truck 150 miles today and no problems at all. No rain either as it was sunny and 68F. Guess the wet weather does have something to do with it. By the way, what is the down side to using one of these units. Does it let more trash into the engine? Just curious as to why the factory does not install them from the get go.

Well I think the deal is with the banks that the airflow is changed to allow for better intake at low speeds. What I have noticed is better response from a stop. MPG's did not change.
I also think that since there is a change in both the box and filter design I do not seem to have any issues with moisture. This may be due to the design of the filter. It angles down into the banks airbox.
I thought maybe at first but I really don't think so. I do think there is a little better reponse from a stop. Enough I can get some rubber and everything always falls from the overhead console when I floor it.
