To help offset "Earth Hour"

"Do you want to show you care about energy conservation? Simply switch off your lights on March 28 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., local time.

This is Earth Hour, and Saturday is the third annual worldwide event. Earth Hour is both a symbolic act and the start of a practical habit."

I say we all turn all our lights on inside and out, in our cars , and even our offices !

The stoopid envoridijuts police are surrounding us !!!

I second this notion. I did not buy an X for fuel economy, or to be friendly. I bought it because a drunk driver near killed me and I wanted the biggest god darn thing on the road shy of a semi tractor. I bought it with out even test driving it, then I got in it and fired it up and fell in love.

I will make sure I run my Excursion on March 28 from 8:30 to 9:30.

Fellas, jdadamsjr doesn't seem like he's supporting the idea. On the contrary...

Hahahahahhaha, when I was reading the first line of the thread I was thinking...... man I gotta turn on all the lights in the house for that hour.

Well, as I read further down I just laughed. I guess it is just not me thinking that.

Let us all remember why we can't buy brand spanking new Xs to replace our extremely safe and very usefull Excursions as they gracefully age. This silly event tonight was dreamed up by the same folks that FORD Motor Company caved into due their environmental-do-gooder lets save the planet BS. So to those whom don't think this thread is pertinent, I respectfully disagree! And quite frankly, I'm going to light up my house and yard like a Christmas Tree .

I second that Ill let my ex idle in the drive way from 8:30 to 9:30 and while thats idlin, every light in the house will be on and ill be out drivin my F150 flooring the ***** outta it after every turn i make hahaha

And jj is right. Half the ppl that got ford to discountinue the Ex are prob the ones that made up earth hour. That gives us every right to go floor our trucks from 8:30 to 9:30

Oh, and there was another reason that this is a good topic of discussion, as this save the earth mentality cost Ford billions in warrantee costs, customers and future revenues. And put the kabosh to the most bullet proof engine of the fleet (it just makes me sick to think about it).

[source: Ford Motor Company website] - The 7.3L engine was in production until early 2003 and this engine’s performance and durability is what the made the Power Stroke ® name legendary. Some of the engine features were a waste gated turbocharger, HUEI fuel injectors and an air to air intercooler. In March of 2003 the 6.0L was introduced. This was the first engine design driven by emissions requirements.
[source: Wikipedia website] - The 7.3L (444 CID) Power Stroke was replaced by the 6.0 L (365 CID) for the 2003 model year. This version was built until mid December 2006 (2007 model year). So many 6.0 L Power Stroke engines were proven to be unreliable,[2] and may have cost Ford hundreds of millions of dollars in warranty repairs and leading to a recall and repurchase of at least 500 trucks.

Thanks Monsta for staying calm through the whole post .... and not reacting like I would have

I HATE what these enviridjuts are doing to us !!! They are Arrogant Incompetents !!!! or worse yet, just trying to make a buck at our expense...

And JUST to make it clear, the following:
************************************************** ******************************************
As someone greatly concerned about the impacts of the self righteous idiots that are so arrogant that they not only think they are affecting our God given world and can take MY freedoms by dictacting my lifestyle, I am writing to my federal and state elected officials to urge you all to confront this enormous threat to the health of our FREEDOM and our countries sovereignty.

On March 28, 2009, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., I will ***** NOT **** join with millions of sheeple around the globe in turning off the lights for one hour -- Earth Hour -- to make a bold statement about climate change lunacy.

I urge you to protect us from this tyranny by turning ON the lights in landmark buildings -- the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the governor's mansion, and the state capitol -- and by encouraging your constituents to be part of this monumental unified call for action on climate change junk science.

I am taking action; now it's your turn to STOP the junk science......

It's cycles stoopid - just like summer, winter, spring etc.... is that too hard to comprehend ?
************************************************** ***************

Is what I sent to the earthhour web site and the white house and my senator here in texus ! You can do the same !

VERY SAD ATTITUDE - but, unfortunately, typical of some in this forum - they see something they think just might possibly disagree with their pre-conceived prejudices, and they get nasty and want censorship. Fortunately, others have pointed out this is UN AMERICAN. There are still some countries left on this planet where you can go and enjoy censorship...

Sad thing about the enviro. whacos. is they, too, have a good number amongst them who go beserk if you ask them to THINK for themselves, and consider new ideas.

Here's my thoughts on this ecology deal. Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that we all, ALL of us with Excursions, chop em up and start using Priuses (is there a "hitch kit" for a Prius...? And how would it handle around 11,000 lbs of three axle trailer and motor yacht...oh..i forgot, the ecology freaks dont think my wife and i should have a boat...)

Anyway - here's what just about EVERYONE will not discuss...and if you bring it up, they demand you be censored....OVER BREEDING ! If ALL of our Excursions were suddenly shot into outer space, at the rate this planet is over-breeding humans, in a generation or two the Priuses that are going to be needed will be using MORE fuel than ALL of our Excursions.

And suppos we all go to "plug in" cars ? Where you going to plug em in...? Into a wall outlet ? Where do you suppose that "juice" is generated..what kind of devices got that electrity in there?.......those are the kinds of questions i get the same self-centered demands for censorship when I ask.....as when I asked about the guy who CLAIMED that the loss of his EX's front hydraulic system must have caused him to lose ALL braking.....

You all complain about the environmental whackos, but then you turn around and act like whackos yourselves.
I know I'm gonna get ripped apart for disagreeing with you, but I'm gonna do it anyway.
I don't mind if you guys drive big gas hog SUV's, I've got a big diesel suckin' pickup truck. I bought mine because I wanted/needed a truck that could haul/tow/carry anything I need it to. I'm sure most of you guys bought EX's for similar reasons. Most people don't drive a vehicle that gets 10 mpg without some reason to do so, even if it's only that you feel safer in it.
I also care about the quality of the air we breathe and the water that we drink (also boat, fish, swim, etc.). I know a lot of you like to spend time in the outdoors. My family and I have a travel trailer that we enjoy as do several members of this forum (thus the big tow rigs we drive).
I'm not gonna let anybody tell me I can't drive what I want when I want where I want; however, I don't automatically feel threatened when someone suggest we should turn off our lights for one hour to raise awareness about energy conservation. Even those "environuts" don't think that turning off the lights for one hour is gonna change anything. It's symbolic, and it's meant to draw attention to the fact that even small changes we make in our daily habits can make a big difference in the long run.
I just don't understand the mentality that "I'm gonna turn on all my lights and let my truck idle for an hour/ race around town wasting fuel." Does that really help you feel better?
Whether you believe in global warming or not, we (all of us) have an effect on the world around us, and there's an awful lot of people on this Earth.
****-poor attitudes like that just give the "radicals" more ammunition to work with. It's like the diesel guys who want to know how to make more black smoke 'cause it looks cool. Why do you think we've got DPF's on trucks now? Keep on polluting and flaunting it and pretty soon the dragstrips and the off-roading will be shut down - not because of some "environmental whacko", but because of people who think they don't have any responsibility to anyone or anything but themselves.
Rant over, go ahead and flame away!

It's not about energy conservation. It is about raising awareness for global warming...the hoax that just won't go away.
