LOL , i love threads about Global warming , i wish a bit would come our way... thats why we fly off to warmer places when we can. (and no i dont offset my carbon emmisions , by paying extra money to the airline companys)

I personally think thats its a natural occurence that the world goes through , hot to cold then vice vesa etc....
Global warming has been brought to you by the media , it creates thousands if not millions of jobs. come on who's changed all their light bulbs to energy efficient ones (I have but thats to save money not be green)
if it was prooved to be true (as it cant as records dont really go back that far) as its a natural thing , how many people would be out of a job.

the problem with our big engined cars is that they will be running out of oil soon , its not the emmisions so much as the capacity of the engine.bigger engine burn more fuel they say.
not really the case
we have some Stupid laws in the UK , as my 6.8litre Excursion was build before march 2001 it cannot be classes as a high emmission engine?? , but my 2002 2 litre normal family saloon is classes as a gas gussler and we get charged £400 (approx $600) just for the privalage of driving it , UK road tax ...(thats another argument)

it all comes down to money , i think the old white collar workers etc have long gone , its all green , recycle , re-use. If you do your in , and if not , well you'll be charged to the hilt.
i agree with the latter , recycle & reusing but the green effect wore off years ago for me.

sorry for going on... just my $0.02 worth

From earthhour.org:
Take a photo on the night, upload it to flickr and add it to Earth Hour's flickr group and tag it with your city and country.
So we're supposed to:
charge our camera batteries
take a pic of ourselves in the dark
use our electric computers to send it to an even bigger electric computer
so that thousands of others can use their electric computers to look at a basically blank photograph

And that will save the earth

My post was to give the readers an idea of just how many people are in the world. Put in the terms I gave, it's not too many. The problem is not the AMOUNT of people.

Are you laughing because you don't agree or that you saw the inside joke in it.

Looks like we all agree on the fact that the whackos who are picking on us with neato toys, are off-base. Where Monst. and I disagree, is on what I think is the greatest danger to the planet. HUMANS ! Shame on Monst. for doing what the whackos are doing; transfering his concern about the planet and its resources, to the ultra liberal kids, some of whom mean well, but most of whom probably dont know which end of a screw-driver to use....

Monst - THINK - sure there is plenty of AREA on the planet for more people. Come visit here in northern Arizona. Endless miles where there is NO-one ( I like it like that ). There is a reason why there is no-one on much of the planet. NO WATER. LOUSY soil. Things like that. Even MILD changes in our climate have caused our major water sources to go way down, causing well-justified panic.

I personally am obviously not technically competent to comment intelligently on the whole "global climate change" issue. We could waste valuable time that should be spent discussing our EX's playing with ourselves as to whether it is changes in the sun, people like me and my wife skinny dipping off of our yacht, or cows crapping, that is causing climate change. As I suggested earlier. Dosnt matter. All we do know for a scientific FACT is that climate changes, and can change suddenly and dramatically. Read up on how fast and how hard the "mini-ice-age" of a few hundred years ago hit (AFTER, incidentally, a period of "global warming") and what it did to the growing season and food supply.

All organisms keep expanding till they exhaust the food supply. That is a basic law of nature. Those of you who are deer hunters know all about the tragedy of deer to over-breed, with the pathetic result of the creatures coming down out of the hills to get abused/killed etc., when they wander into civilization.

In summary, I suggest that beating the envior whackos over the head with the OVER POPULATION issue is an excellent tool to encourage them to come to their senses.

Sure the planet can handle more people. But with what kind of life style? Personally, I think you guys who have EX's just cause you like to rumble around in a rolling whale, but dont need its capablities, are just plain childish, silly show-offs. But I sure as HELL would not take it upon myself to tell YOU guys what to drive.

Think it thru...the greater the population pressure on the planet's resources, the more excuse the whackos will have, to want to tell US what kind of "toys" we can and cannot have. THAT is what REALLY scares me !

Oh my friend Ken, I thought you knew me well enough through this forum to realize I absolutely saw the joke inside!!

I'll be honest, when I first read it, I thought to myself, "If Ken only knew what he was saying," then I did a double take and SAW you didn't accidentally choose those words, it was deliberate.

I thought it was funny as hell.

Thought so.

It's time to talk about Excursions again. This discussion should only be continued in The Club.

but, but , but I've been gone

last word, I promise...

The main reason I started this was to elicit thought... and we got it...
my common sense opinion is that our little contribution is the proverbial drop in the bucket...
ESPECIALLY here in the states (have you SEEN pictures of the other countries that would saddle us with cap and trade?)

While I certainly DO conserve, I also do live, and MY creator put this here for our well-being...
ALL of it, not just what some would say we do or use...
(Al Gore says "Do as I say, not as I do... while I fly my private jet around to give carbon offset lectures !)

I know, global warming, just like Darwinism, will be with us forever.... the mantra,
no matter how wrong, just say it enough, punish those that don't beleive enough, and it becomes true....

Have a nice day and think for yourselves...
I will

Talking

I lied... I know this group WILL think for themselves
even on the "ugly sister" subject of this thread ---- like political correctness ....
But leave it to those wonderful Aggies to come up with this:

Definition of Political Correctness:
The following is the winning entry in an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term.

This year's term was Political Correctness.
The winner wrote:

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
