I drive a F-150 1986 with the 4.9 Liter 6 cylinder, (1 bbl carburetor)
The engine is missing all vacuum lines... The guy who owned it before took the car to a repair station and they disconnected them and put screws into the holes, for any reason...
The problem is: I`m living in germany and nobody has a clue where the lines vacuum lines belong to...Now the engine is very hard on gas: 22 Liter on 100 Kilometers... That`s way too much I think.
CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE ???
There should be a diagram on the panel directly in front of the radiator support that shows the vacuum routing. It is located on my 84 next to the hood release. My problem was lines and plastic T's and connectors were all dried out and needed replaced. Easy parts to find in NC, hopefully at your location too.

Unfortunately I cannot open the acrobat-files with the diagrams.
A message says: File is damaged and cannot be opened...
Do you know how to handle that ?

The diagram on your radiator support will be the correct one for the truck. It takes some time and searching around to figure out all the symbols and abbreviations. At autozone you can buy a box of assorted tees and reducers, also if you have a junkyard nearby it is a good resource for the funny sized elbows and tees and egr cooler parts (if needed). I start at the carb because its easy to identify on the diagram, run the lines to the charcoal canister and the smog pump next to get them out of the way. Autozone sells online and will ship.

Go to Adobe.com and make sure you have the latest version of acrobat reader installed. These were created with Acrobat 9
first I`m gonna put the vacuum lines back where they belong to.
Hope it helps saving gas. Right now it`s guzzling 20 Liters on 100 (with a very careful right foot)Kilometers that`s some like 11 mpg...
Over here we pay 6,25 Bucks for one gallone....
The people here think I`m brain damaged drivin`that truck.
But I don`t care.It`s a part of the U.S. and I just love it !!!
Maybe it`s the missing vacuum lines.
What`s your mpg with the F-150/ 1986 300 straight 6, 1 bbl-carb model ???
