Is there a way to do a 2" lift on a 2003 4x4? I've seen how it's pretty easy on the solid axle. But can it be done with the independant rear?....Cheaply. I hate not being home, I wish I could just go out and look to see what I need to do. I have been away so long, I don't even remember what underneath my truck looks like anymore.
I added a 3" Truxx spacer lift and 33" Pro Comps and Pro Comp wheels with a little more offset to have them sit out of the fender a little to my '03 FX4 and it looks and drives fantastic - lots of comments on it. However, no matter what you will hear, the bigger tires do drop your mileage a bit but what you get in looks and comments is more than worth every penny! I can try to post up some pics if you want. In going with the 33's, I do get some minor tire to bumper connection when backing and turning but I think that this is likely limited to the FX4 bumper which is a little lower than the XLTs.
Can't say for sure without seeing it, but the tire rub could likely be fixed with a set of rims that have the proper backspacing to pull them back under the truck. Though obviously not the look you were going for. Post up some pics when you get a chance. Not too many 03's with lift out there cause most of them are kid toting grocery getters, including my wife's.
