Help! I haven't worked on trucks much, so please bear with me. I want to install a cb in my 2007 F250 diesel superduty. I want to wire it to the factory insatalled uplifter switches. I have read numerous online stuff about the location of the wires to connect to and in my ignorance, I am confused. My question is: To power the cb, do I connect it to wires at the relay box inside the glove box or to the blunt cut wires behind the pasenger compartment fuse panel, which I believe is below the steering column in the lower dash. Please excuse me if my terminology is way off. I am really new at this. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Reason: misspelling
I would by pass hooking the CB via the the up fitter switch. I ran a wire direct from the CB to the Battery with an inline fuse. You can make use of the wires that Ford ran throught he firewall on the passenger side of the truck. The direct wire run helps run clean power to the CB for a clearer sound.
The up fitter switches do have their use, I just don't think that powering a CB is one of those.
thanks. Can you tell me how I find the wires that are prerun thru the firewall? Like I said, I am really inexperienced about all this. Where is the wire and how will I know it when I find it?
I would just use the passthru wires thru the firewall. They are located in the wiring harness on the drivers side up near the brake master Cyl.(under hood) with the other end under the sterring column (inside the cab, on 06 anyway). But first only use these if the CB is AM only. If SSB check your current requirements before using the passthru's wires.
In any case properly fuse the system and well ground the radio to a good chassis location with as short as possible ground wire. The heavier the better. This will help in reducing ignition noise.
I would do as Jonrgen suggested and don't waste the uppfitter switch on the CB.
