I'm going to try to post some pictures of my first attempt at fabricating anything. My old stock seat was shot. So....I bought a mid 70's Ch#$y one as recommended by the tech articles. Only problem was the mounting brackets were completely different than the ones recommended that I should have bought. I can't claim I did these brackets by myself, in fact I had alot of help from a buddy who knows what he's doing. But I did do the initial design and some of the welding and all of the install, measure, uninstall, rework, reinstall, ect.ect.ect....until voila! they finally fit. If you look ay my gallery you will see that my original plan didn't pan out aa my daughter is now half way thru college! Oh how naive of me! . Anyway let me know what you think of my new seat brackets. Then I'll have some questions.
Thanks, PS
OK well they won't let me post attachments so I'll try putting them in my gallery.
Glad to see you back at it...I was afraid you went and sold the truck!
My progress is slow too, but I do have my 53 stripped down to the frame. I am starting my first fab stuff now as well... Making a new rear crossmember in my welding class at MCC. Then finishing up the frame, brakes, etc, etc,...Lots more to go!
Hey thanks! I can't seem to get the photos to upload.......still working on it. The admin told me run cleanup and defrag, and I have...but it still doesn't work. Like most things I work on! Dough!!
Your truck is looking good even in pieces.......looks like you have a good little helper.
Glad to see you're still working on the truck, hadn't noticed you around lately. I hear ya on the "naive" part, been working on mine since 2001. So long I can hardly remember why I thought frame off was a good idea. Hope ya get the pix figured out.
Thanks Buddy! The error message says: "missing security token", have you ever run into this? I posted on the photo help forum, maybe somebody there can help me.
Keep on chugging on your truck...........it's going to be awesome! Plus you have time to actually get it done by the time your kids in High School!
Sorry but I am computer challenged. I can get them into my gallery without too much trouble, however getting them into a thread... as the Italians say "Fuh ged a boud it" My daughter is 10, so I figure I got another 6 yrs to get the truck on the road. Ugh, did I just say that.
Hey Brian! I was just checking out your gallery and saw your new F150.......sweet! That color is great, maybe I'll paint the 53 that color.
I really like the roll pan on your 60 also.
Just my .02
Glad to see you're givng Fab a try. It's like anything else. You stumble along and get better as you do it more. The best Fab people will never tell you they arrived. There's always more to know. It isn't a contest, it's a journey and you need to enjoy it. Good For You !
Yeah.........it was fun, and satisfying when it all finally fit! I just with I could get these dang pics to load so you guys could share my small victory! Thanks for the encouragement!
John,
Take a look at the top of the page, about the 3rd or 4th item is a posting that Bob started on how to post pics. It has lots of info and step by step instructions so the rest of us can see your progress! Here's a link to the post: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...-pictures.html
Good Luck and welcome back.
Hey Thanks Kent! I have posted pics to my gallery in the past so I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right. The error message is "missing security token" and the admin doesn't know how to solve it either. I'll try from work next week if if it works from there I'll know its my computer.
Thanks again or your encouragement!
Some of the seat bracket pictures are now in my album thanks to Jon T from the "Photo Help" forum! Woo Hoo Jon T! Check it out and tell me what you think (pull no punches) because I'm looking for honest opinions.
Thanks everyone and especially Jon T for your help.
OK so what the heck?! They are in an album, not my gallery. I can't even see them from here. Talk about frustration! Did I mention I hate Vista?! If anyone can actually view the photos I just added to an "album", let me know.
