Pulling the 302FI out of the 93 F150 this weekend. Are the engine lift brackets sufficient to lift both the engine and auto transmission (E4OD) together up and out? If so will all miss the front radiator support bar? Or only the engine can be pulled with the brackets and clear the radiator support bar....Thanks
I pulled the 302 out of my 87 with the T18 still tied to it. It was just an inch from bein able to clear without pulling the radiator, but after pullin the rad, she came right on out.
Yeah but there's SO much more room if you're willing to take the extra time (and need to anyway).
We pulled my engine (7.3 w/an E4OD) tranny, and the transfer case out in one unit, just ran chain around the whole manifold instead of using the lift brackets, and it all pulled out on my 1990. However, we did pull the whole front clip, but it made it nice to be able to get in there after the engine was gone and clean everything out of there.
I agree with Nick, pulling the clip makes the job a whole lot easier, plus the engine/transmission can be pulled together then separated outside the truck, which is also a lot easier than trying to pull on or the other underneath the truck.
remove radiator, and pull it, if you pull the upper intake off it will be easier but not needed. no need to pull front clip, and the engine brackets worked just fine for me
