I have a 07 f150 fx4 5.4, and i have heard that the fx4's come with positrac, unlike the regular 4X4's. what do you guys know 'bout this????
If it is a Fx4 they come standard with a Limited slip, I have seen a few with a 3.55 but most have the 3.73 ratio. This is the same limited slip that you would would get if you got a non 4x4 or normal 4x4 also, no difference between them.
Now just new for 09, only on the Fx4 it has a electric locking rear differential. By pulling the switch on the dash you lock the rear axle completely. It will stay locked until to 65mph in 4 Hi and 25 in 4 low.
I have yet to be disappointed by mine. About 3weeks ago about I was driving up a real steep driveway that was half ice on one side and the other dry pavement. I was going to put it in 4x4 before I started up but thought what the hell lets see if I can make it up. Started up and when one tire hit the ice and started to spin it locked up and took me right up the hill. Grated it kept locking and unlocking and some spinning but it got me up the hill! I guess I must have a good one
people always rag on the stock LS...and when asked, most of them have huge tires and/or have beaten the crap out of it
the normal everyday person will have 0 issues with it.
my LS worked perfectly for 23,500 miles. Recently though, I've been experiencing some 1 tire fire. But that has been in the last 2,500 miles or so (only 25,800 on the truck).
Normally lays down dual black marks, but the single black lines are appearing with more frequency.
I don't blame the stock LS though. I'd like to see any factory unit or aftermarket unit take a hard launch in a truck with 400+ HP and weighs 6,000 lbs
just gives me an excuse to upgrade to a detroit locker when I do gears
Hmmm, then mine must be broke cause I only have 3000 miles on it, stock tires, and it'll only spin one tire if ones on pavement and the other is on ice.

when you have spinning, how fast does the speedo read?
the LS is a set of clutches. They don't work until there is a little wheel spin to create some friction...then they grab and force both sides to work.
and are you positive you have the LS rear end? 3,000 miles is extremely early for the LS to not be working already
I'd take it by the dealership and make them fix the LS if it is one. Might be something as simple as needing a little Friction modifier, or the clutches are shot

Think I had it as fast as 25.

see axle number?
19 = 3.55 non LS

H9 = 3.55 LS
B6 = 3.73 LS
this may save trip to dealer
B6, I already knew that though, it was one of the things I checked before buying it.
The thing is it has the same winter driving characteristics as my 07 had, B6 also, though admittedly I never got it stuck where I could really tell what the LS was doing like this one. Well back to the dealer, I’m beginning to think I’ve got a lemon.
