Do you mean the switch from the 08 will not replace the old switch in the same hole?
Guess I need to actually get a set of those mirrors so I actually look at them while this is being discussed.

The 08 switch would not fit in the pre-08 slot. It is a different shape.

Here is a picture on the new switches that I had added for the mirrors. I also just added to my albums some more pictures of the switches and the wiring I had to do for them to work.

That looks really good, If I did not know any better I would say they came from Factory like that. Please email any diagrams, pictures, directions, and info you have to keep for my records. I am going to do the upgrade but I will first have to get what I need.
1 more question; instead of the 2 switches, could the 08 door switch be installed the same way? This way I can leave the original wire alone and just run a new wire to the 08 switch for change back if I decide to part with this Excursion.

Did you take them off of your 01 to put on your 04?

Weekendwarriorfws32;
I have liked the looks of the 08 mirrors, gives the EX a beefer look. You should add the 05 headlights to your 04 as well.
what is the website you have for the airbags?
Did you put them front and rear?
I know several that have them on the rear, I did meet 1 person at a gas station pulling a 35 foot camper with them on front and rear and from what little I got to talk with him he said it made it more stable for both towing and daily drive.
Here is something that is going to make yall think I lost my mind,, I have the tube steps and I like the running board (lighted) better and will change that too. I also want to add the top marker lights or a visor with marker lights which will be easier.

Some have tried to wire the 08 switch but have found that the switch controls are in the computer system and have not been able to make it work.
The post above, #16 has the instructions to rewire the left/right controls on the mirrors. The controls are different and wires can not just be changed at the door. I used those instructions, and pulled apart on the bench and soldered before install. I also found that the larger top mirror didn't want to pull off (and if you brake the housing they are sold as a new mirror only) so I just snuck in behind it with the socket to undo the bolt. You'll see what I mean with the pictures in post 16. I have parts that I used in my gallery.
