I've been having a problem with the transfer case lately. It shows that it is in 4Lo, when the switch is not. I'm not sure if the electrical plug got water in it from all the snow(put some dielectric grease in it yesterday and didn't make a difference, and removed the front driveshaft too).
I put up a short video clip on youtube for everyone that sees it will understand what is going on.
Any help will be appreciated, I will be working on this through out the evening to hopefully resolve this issue, as I have a 12 hour drive in front of me come friday.
looks like to me that the t-case is in 4 lo, did u turn the switch rece ntly to lo for it to shift then not shift back? how long has it been doing it? when u drive does it feel like it is in lo range or just 4x4? the shift motor conector might be dirty and not wanting to shift it. the connector on top of the case(range sensor(make the light go on) sounds like it is working.
sounds like the case is just stuck in gear. i had the same problem and it was a corroded wire under the 4x4 relays in the engine compartment. when the motor is removed turn the stub that the the motor turns to the 4x2 spot and check the light, if it goes out try switching the motor with the switch while it is removed fomr the case. you might just have a bad wire somewere. for your trip you can manually shift the case to 4x4 then move the motor to 4x4 and reinstall and deal with it when you get back.
