Hey all, 2005 f150 lariat. I replaced the HU and kept the audophile sub and amp. All works good, even sounds better than expected except now when I turn the key, give the sub power it gives a thump. Only when you turn the power on. I used all the proper harness's, just not sure what I might of done. Any ideas.
I have the same thing. The aftermarket radio puts out too much power through the "remote" wire. I was told to buy a resister from radio shack but I cant remember which one.
prob just the power bump going to the cone. I would keep the volume down a bit when I turn it on tho. When I put an aftermarket sub in my 150, there were some directions on how to "break in" the speaker also. I think it was several hours of low to mid volume. I cheated a bit to see how it sounded, with no probs, and I think its just right. One of those nerds at RS might know which one.
* A 1.5K Ohm resistor can be used on the amp-remote wire to eliminate turn-on pop."
One of the guys in the audio forum gave me this info. I have the same issue now that I put my Kenwood ddx514 in. I had to mess with the PAC SWI so much I forgot to put the resistor inline. (there were some problems with the last batch of SWI's that went out, but can be fixed on the spot). I will be putting the resistor in line when I pull the deck again to add the bluetooth module. Hope it helps, but I have not done it yet so cannot confirm.
