Hey guys I am still new to this forum but so far I love it. Anyway I am in afghanistan now and am buying up goodies for when I get home. I have an 06 scab 4.6L 3.55 gears. Right now I have 33x10.50R20, but I want to move up to a BFG 35x 12.50 AT providing the backspacing on my wheels works. Won't find out till I get home. The question I have is I know I should move up in gears, but what should I go with a 4.10 or a 4.56. I do drive a lot so I still need to have no problem doing 70-80 mph. I have found some gear sets on ebay for around 200 bucks But what size rear end do we have. Any advice would be appreciated you can look at pics of my truck in my Gallery. Thanks James

Hi James_24_85. I see that no one else has responded to your post, so I well. I'm not into big tires these days (check the handle), but I know there was a thread about gear ratios two or three weeks ago. You might want to go back or search for it. Anyway I hope you get back from there safe. God bless you and all your fellow military people around you. We may need you soon here in the good old USA.
guys who run 35-37" tires and 4.56 gears (5.4 motor) report that their acceleration is returned to stock and they also usually say their mileage is almost restored. Seems to be about a perfect combo to negate the bad affect of bigger tires
since you have the smaller engine, I personally would go with 4.56 gears. IMO the step from 3.55 to 4.10 is to small a gap, and you'll be wasting your money...in the old days 4.10 was a preferred choice because most cars/trucks came with 3.03 or taller gears
btw, your truck has the 8.8 axle in the rear (4.6 motor) and a reverse cut 8.8 in the front
