I am hoping to hear from others who are having the same issues with their 2011 Expy's. I love my 2011 Expedition EL Limited but I am troubled by the number of electrical issues I am having. My local dealer is hopeless and they even have trouble finding the parts I need. I am pretty handy with electrical/electronics but I would hope they could provide some Ford insight on the problems I am having. Here are some of the problems:
-HVAC Fan wouldn't work drivers rear fan worked fine. Found the fan speed controller had a burnt connection and the cable connector damaged. Replaced the controller and the entire harness. Read that this happens if the fan is run at the highest setting for too long and I can feel the wire getting very hot when I run in this setting. This is totally ridiculous, especially for people that live in the south with our long hot summers.
Here is the bad fan module:

-Heated and Cooled Seats. Won't come on for either driver or passenger and the light flashes for a second when trying to turn on any either heat or cool. The middle row seat heaters still work. I tried the battery disconnect trick and they worked once. I removed the module from under the passenger seat and found another burnt module and connector. I am getting the connector this afternoon and will try with the existing module. The dealer was not able to come up with the right part number for the control module and has contacted Ford. I also asked if this could be related to TSB issued for the 2008’s and I was told they couldn’t look it up and I would have to provide the TSB. What’s up with Ford between the problems with this Expedition (I have only mentioned the most recent) and the lack of dealer support I am about to cut my losses and move over to one of their competitors.
I had the same issue with my heated/cooled seats. The ground wire melted and needed to be replaced. That repair lasted for about 9 months then the module needed to be replaced. I think they should have replaced the module when they did the ground harness.
Anyways the module part number you need is 9U5Z14C724B. I'm surprised you dealer couldn't find it as it fits a bunch of Fords ( see link - http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-FORD-OEM-FRONT-SEAT-HEATER-CONTROL-MODULE-9U5Z-14C724-B-/261022045199?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc620540f&vxp=mtr#ht_2076wt_1143 )
Just keep in mind that the new module has to be programmed to the vehicle "as-built-data" so it's not a backyard mechanic thing.
I have a feeling that this may be the problem on my 2008. I lost my blower fan tonight but have not gotten that far into diagnosing. Mine does not have the heated and cooled seats though. Where is the fan speed controller on our trucks. I did this repair on my old crown vic myself. Hoping this expedition is just as easy.
I'm going through this with our 2010 Expy Limited now. I'm going to check the module(s) tonight and see if I see any obvious issues. Say that I do find I need to replace my module: Does it have to go to a Ford Dealer for the programming, or is that something an indy with the right computer can do?
Also, are the aftermarket modules or (if there are) should those be avoided like political discussions at Thanksgiving?

It doesn't have to be a Ford dealer, but I have yet to find an independent shop willing to pay the exorbitant subscription fees Ford charges in order to get access to the data needed to do the programming. The reality is that you're going to end up at a dealer for it.
Well, I finally got around to taking my passenger seat out because I wanted to verify that the part number listed, and that I found on eBay was what I needed. Call me old fashioned but I thought for an hour of my time, I could head off a potential hassle in getting the wrong part. I had also done a little more reading on the board about this issue and found that there could be a wiring connector that was bad. Well, lo and behold it was the connector in my truck. This module is under the passenger seat. I found the part number for the connector on one of the boards and looked it up on RockAuto. $40 including shipping.

It is going to suck to have to splice all of those wires but I'll take the seat out and make it as easy as possible.
