'05 Rear driveshaft balancer vibration

Am trying to narrow down the vibration associated with my
05 f250 4x4 supercab (5.4 liter/auto). New Michelins made quite an
improvement over the Cooper's ATR's that it came with. (purchased
used with 27,000 miles on it). Still a noticeable vibration around 48 mph
that is intermittent. Dropped the rear driveshaft and ran on the front for
a week and its definitely something due to the rear driveshaft. This
shaft is a one piece unit with a vibration damper on the rear of the
shaft. Looks like the rubber ring inside the damper has quite a few
cracks and has seen better days. Anyone know if these dampers
can be replaced or is the only fix to order a new shaft from the dealer?

Any infor appreciated,
George

You can draw a line with chalk to see if the balancer is shifting.

If your going to get a new one, there are great aftermarket options. DynaTech was our guys, they made shafts out of several materials and balanced above the 5000rpms most shafts are balanced to.
