I had mine rebuilt a couple of years ago by a local auto upholterer. He didn't have the material, so had to order a match. He rebuilt the side bolters etc. It was worn out the same way. When he was done it was a great match and looked like new. Only the drivers seat was bad. I think it cost a little over $100 if I remember right.
OK, thanks for the heads up. Do they have a history of wiring problems? The passenger seat still works great, but the drivers quit a while back. One would think that they were on the same fuse. Ford tried to tell me it takes a special heat glue and labor intensive.
My theory is, if they can build it, I can rebuild it. But then I'm hard headed.
I see that the site you gave is an after market, maybe the FTE parts guy can help.
I'm sure Ed could sell you the OEM element. There's not really a history of wiring problems unless you shove something under the seat and hit the connector. You'd have to look at the fuse listing in the manual to see if they're on the same fuse.
I don't know how labor intensive the factory set up is, but I added heated seats to mine using the above link. Much less labor intensive than I thought.
I need to recover the drivers seat anyway. It would likely be the best to do them at the same time. I should get a service manual too, then maybe I can answer some of my own questions.
Thanks for the advice Chris.
