i had a 1980 f100 custom with the straight 6 and 4 speed. when i sold it. it had 275000 miles and the is still driving it today and all it does is burn a little oil
Are you serious?....
Let me rephrase that. If the engine in question is in good condition now with no underlying issues, then it will certainly see 200 k easy.
These are bulletproof engines and with proper maintenance it will last for a long time. Keep your fluids clean and ahe'll stay happy.
Just to reiterate what others have said, if the engine is maintained it'll go the distance, I had one with over 170,000 miles on it when I sold it and I still see the guy driving it around 3 years later. I had another one with 160k on it and still ran like a champ. My current F150 with the 4.9 has about 140k on it and it still sounds tight and runs great
well dads 94 has 206k on it and he beats that truck, hes had it so overheated it starts knockn and quits, cool down start it back up, it still runs damn good uses no oil and i have ate a few 302s in it, mine has 223k on it running strong burns no oil so i would say change oil is critical and dont rev it too much they hate that. good luck with yours they are a great motor
mines at 338000 km and runs like the wind it uses some oil but its mostly a leak i believe head gasket and ive overheated mine pretty good and the previous owner beat er up pretty good and haulin a sled while 4byin. these engines are possibly one of if not the toughest engine produced not to be mistaken im not sayin its the only good truck engine or the only tough engine but it just seems to last longer and with a manual tranny its stubborn like a thick headed bull if you cant pull something it will break something trying
mines at 223 , just took a 2500 mile trip , did not burn a drop of oil ! I was so frigging impressed , 2500 miles @ 70 mph and a whopping 20 mpg highway.
