Can anyone point me in the right direction to gain the information from my truck VIN number for born date, original engine, tranny, etc? Thanks in advance!
Thanks much Holiver31 for the quick reply! How can I identify the transmission and the gear ratio for the rearend? And is there still a place that you can get a printout of the build sheet or sticker for the truck when it was bought new?
To check the transmission and rear axle code, look at the warranty plate found on the driver's door. Then post what the codes are (or the whole plate if you desire).

133 OU F253 P 4 G 24J 08100 71
bigfoot22- What number or address did you use to get them to send it to you? are they able to send a "Window Sticker Information" sheet as well, like when the truck was on the lot?

I have been lurking for some time now, but wanted to say hello, finally! In August, I purchased this 1973 Ford F-250 Camper Special from the original owner with an original and documented 31000 miles for $4k, with all the maintenance/assorted paperwork, except the original window sticker. Did I mention no rust. Nothing has been done to this truck since it came off the showroom floor, with a camper immediately installed at the dealership, so the bed is in great original shape. I have replaced the fluids, hoses, recharged the R-12 A/C after I got certified to buy/work with the stuff, new steel belted tires on original rims, original paint (A little thin...but original!), and perfect original interior, no accidents, but a new exhaust, as I had to solve a leak and the metal just wasn't holding up, and new shocks. Did I mention no rust. I have removed the original working radio and placed a Vintage Stereo that allows for my SiriusXM to plug in, without touching the dash. Yup, I am listening through the 1973 speakers that came with the truck...Kinda romantic in a guy's truck kinda way. I have a little tough time getting the gas into the two tanks without spilling, but nothing new there I guess. Anyhow, a long way to say that my loving family cares enough for dear old dad to let him have this working toy that runs every week around town, and like a champ. It has a certain patina that makes people stop and look and when the wife and the kids get in, I added an extra seatbelt, to go to church, softball, or for ice cream, my smile is as wide as the front grill! I am greatful to this site for the information that has helped so far, and perhaps I may be able to help someone else in the future. Thanks again and for being so welcoming!
