I used to ride. CB900Custom. Got tired of folks trying to kill me. Now I work wrecks for a living along with other real police work when people aren't being total idiots in their vehicles.
Just the other day I worked a wreck in a WalMart parking lot. Both front airbags deployed. Towed that car. The other one, well it got hit in the rear quarter and was knocked around 180* hitting other crap. This in a WalMart parking lot.
Do you really feel safe on a bike when there are folks like this driving around? I know the allure of the bike. I loved it. Just got tired of folks trying to kill me because they are stupid. Be safe riders out there.
Damn Clay, your bike looks great! You have most of the things I intended to do to mine.
I was out and about all day today. I had to go all the way back up to where the accident occurred and then sit down and make billions of phone calls.
Called the lady's insurance and filed a claim. Then I had to go to where the bike had been towed (Which was really far away actually) and sign the papers to release it to their adjusters tomorrow. I am glad I had it towed last night.
Tire has a bad gouge in it, axle was way out of line, not sure if tranny was in good shape or not, tail piece "may" be the only broken section of the rear. I don't think the sub frame took a hit but the trunk lid also broke off. It didn't look all that bad, I guess it will all depend on how competent the insurance adjuster is.
Either way I want to get it back.
Here are two more crappy photos with my phone. I could just tell she didn't like being stuck with those little scooters.
It's been nearly 20 years since I got hit from behind by a brand new driver. Car full of his buddies. He was driving on the wrong side of the road and speeding. Clipped me as I was turning into a driveway. From my own experience,,, I spend alot more time watching folks behind me than I ever used to. I leave a big buffer at lights and roll up when everyone is stopped. Still riding though.
The GF talked me into selling my old VF1100C (Honda Magna) a couple of years ago. Most of my friends had sold their bikes off already - getting older, etc. I hadnt been riding much since I got tired of dealing with roads full of ijits and very few people to ride with.
Do miss that bike, tho - very comfortable and plenty of power for the mountains around here. If I ever trade off the GF, I might have to get back into it - thinking a Goldwing this time around...
