I have a 73' F250 camper special with a 460 in it. At high revs I keep blowing out my PCV valve, and oil is lifting up my dip stick about 3/4 to 1 inch and throwing oil all over my engine. I have an aftermarket Carter performance 4 barrel card and intake on it, and I've been working on getting the timing just right. It just doesn't perform like I know it can. I've had several people tell me that I have blown piston rings and that I should do a compression test (which I plan on doing of course), but I have very limited experience with auto mechanics and if any body out there has any suggestions or advice, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks
I'm not sure what the rpm range is when it starts blowing because I don't have a working tachometer on it, but it seems like it's when I really get on it that it starts having issues. Thanks for all the reply's so far!
What does it mean if the wet compression is higher?
If you have limited mechanical knowledge get a compression tester(or borrow from a friend), take all plugs out and test each cylinder. If you get a new one directions are easy to follow. If you borrow one whoever you borrow it from will tell you how to do it. I give it a 95% chance of at least one bad cylinder.
