I've been helping my cousin fix his truck. We have rebuilt his turbo with riffraffs kit and got his injectors redone by Jim at rosewood. There are no mods on his truck. After doing those we are still having an issue of it blowing smoke out of the tail pipe and it increases as boost increases. There is no oil in his fuel. What other things could we be overlooking. I checked blow by by putting the oil cap on the oil fill and it stayed there so I don't think blow by is really that bad. Any help would be appreciated. Also it's an early 99.

Grey, white, blue, or black? Haze or billow? Vid capability? Acrid stench and burning eyes, or just plain offensive-smelling? Is there a rainbow or soot in the degas bottle? How many miles on new sticks? Running smooth, or no?
It's a haze at idle and builds as the boost increases. It's blue and smells like oil. Not sure about the degass I'm having him check. Ill get video tomorrow when I take it for a test drive.
He had a major oil leak before we did all this and thought it was the turbo as there was quite a bit off oil in the intercooler tubes. Could it be from excess oil in the intercooler?
Which orings leak that allows the oil to get into the turbo? The ones on the block or on the pedistal? Is there any other part of the turbo that will go bad and allow oil to get in?
It can be. If you say there's not a lot of blowby (passed upside-down cap test), then you're left with a clogged air filter, a dirty doghouse filter, a blown seal in the turbo, an improperly seated injector, a bad injector O-ring, a full intercooler, or you just haven't burned everyting out yet.
If he torqued the injectors down to 14 ft/lbs instead of 14nm would that cause it? Where is the doghouse filter? The injectors and turbo have brand new orings. I know the injectors were placed in carefully as I watched him do it. Not sure on the turbo though.

Not to question the quality of workmanship, but we're troubleshooting here and basics need to be covered. Did he saturate the injectors with oil before inserting? Was all oil purged from the cylinders before installing glow plugs? All copper washers verified on each insertion? 14Ft/lbs very bad... replace all bolts torqued to this spec. If you want to know if I could be exaggerating on this, search "Stinky"... his woes span the whole forum for the last 6 months. You can even look up Landmobile, he has this experience.
Turbo O-rings are not the same as spindle seals... those can leak. CCV doghouse - on top of the driver-side VC.
Injectors were lubed upon install. Copper washers were on each injector. Oil was purged from cylinders before new glowplugs were installed. So would that much torque damage orings?
How long ago were the injectors swapped (time and miles)?
When you say the turbo was rebuilt, can you entail exactly what you did? Or did you just replace the o-rings at the pedestal and turbo connection and pedestal to block connection?
Does the truck have a muffler/cat?
14lbs vs 10lbs shouldnt be giving you problems, but theres a chance it could. Honestly I do not torque injectors anymore, I simply snug them by hand, go a little bit extra, and then check the torque to make sure they are all about the same, and none are under the recommended torque.
Increasing with boost or increasing with temp?
Oil loss?
These are all questions that we need answers too in order to really help.

OK I dont want to hi-jack this thread but you just mentioned something I haven't seen before or though of checking. Dirty Dog house filter?
I didn't know there was a filter in there. Mine is still setup as stock and the most I have done is to clean the outside of it when I replaced the injector harnesses and glow plugs.

Other than some smoke.. what would be some of the symptoms?
Injectors were redone last week. Turbo was torn down and rebuilt with new bearings and seals with riffraff diesels rebuild kit one month ago. Truck started to smoke 3 days before we pulled injectors. Increases with boost not temp. Degass bottle is clean. Not sure about oil loss as he topped it off today and will monitor it. Going to take intercooler out and see how much oil is in there. The reason we started all this is because 3 months ago his truck started to run like crap/rough. Died on him while driving. Checked the oil and had to add like 8 qts. There were no signs of oil leaking or burning excesss out of the exhaust. That's when we pulled the intercooler tubes and saw oil in them. So we rebuilt the turbo and the oil stayed level.
