How can I free a bound emergency brake cable. When the state inspector tested the E brake, it is now stuck on. They freed it slightly to drive it home but there is still a lot of drag.
Is there a place to lubricate so I can get it backed off enough to either drive it tot he shop or get a replacement cable?

I had a Toyota years ago they would get all bound up at the center pivot point at the rear differential and right at the read brake drums. Have somebody operate it and you look to see where it isn't moving. They might run through a metal tube somewhere along the line. They are all different.
If you have disk brakes in the rear, your E-brake is actually a miniature set of drum brakes in the center of the rotor. I have never worked on the E-brakes of my Escape but I have on an F-150. There are some small linkage parts inside the center drum that often gets rusted due to road salt. Clean them all up and you are good to go again. If it is the cable itself, I wouldn't waste any time trying to free them up, I would just replace them.
I have a 95 f150 and has same problem.didn`t notice it til i pulled drum off and down to rivets!....gotta get new cables......weird place i found them, Summit racing!
