Ok I have read some past threads about normal boots numbers where guy's are rolling down the hwy @ 70 and pulling 5 or so pounds of boost, and have been told I should be hitting 20-22#'s with my set up, but I can only hit 19? Well I never been able to do that I was thinking I might have a boost leak or my guage is having issues.
When my tranny was getting re-built I had a new set of DI uppies installed & I relaced all 6 boots, so I think I have the boost leak issue covered?
My guage will start reading boost starting on the 2nd shift & hit around 4#'s through the rest of the shifts & then the guage bleeds to 0 boost even when I'm doing 70+ on a flat hwy. My EGT's have never been better the truck run's great & strong.
What else should I be looking for? guage issues? Turbo?

If the gauge is accurate it's a good thing. More boost at cruise means the engine is working harder. Mine runs around 2-3 psi cruising at freeway speeds.
I'm thinking the same thing as soon as the tranny hits the last shift & i'm up to speed either on the freeway or in town on a 45+ mph zone the guage bleeds away to 0, but when I hit the go pedal or a hill the boost will climb back up. I'm thinking maybe replace the rubber tubing & see what I get if it's the same maybe my guages are going down
Maybe you have a kink in the line to the gauge I did . Pull the line off at the T and turn the regulator down to about 15 psi on your air compressor ( if you have one ) and put some air pressure to the gauge with someone watching it and see if it reads 15 psi .
Thanks for the info 1996 I'll do that, do you think that will work with a X monitor which has a digital read out. I all so traced the tube & all looks well no kinks, but a clog is possible.
Does the x monitor use an external line for boost pressure or does it take the MAP from the PCM? If it's the latter it could be a leak.....but not necessarily boost. Could be an exhaust leak bleeding off drive pressure, or even a fuel delivery problem.
Since the truck runs great I think its more likely an indication issue than anything else.
I am at 0 psi whenever I am not on the pedal or going uphill. I have changed gauges an still no change. I see 15-16 mpg mix city/highway and get 17mpg at 75 on the highway. I have never been able to figure it out. I also changed it from the map sensor to the air intake to see if that made a difference and still nothing. I gave up and just watch my mpg to see if there is a drop. If you find something please share. Thanks
edit: I forgot to add that I tested for boost leaks to 25psi and nothing!!!
I dont think there is any probem. If you are running stock tires on 4x4 or have a 2wd there really isnt much load on the engine at highway speeds, especially on flat land. When my truck was on stock tires I got maybe 1 psi boost 70 to 75 mph. Then I put on 35" tires and my boost was around 6 to 8 psi. Now with gears I run around 3 psi again.
It all has to do with the load on the engine. Also elevation will effect boost.
If it has good performance and economy, I wouldnt worry about it.
Where in CO do you live? If you are at high elevation, you may not be seeing boost like others at lower elevation do. One way to check would be see what the MAP reading is which gives you an indication of absolute pressure.
