DP Tuner install question

I got my tuner today.. Cleaned the terminals up & installed everything the way it says. After putting everything together, my truck won't start. It says about the computer being in limp mode & to re clean the terminals. Does that mean the terminals where the chips plugs in I assume & I didn't get them clean enough? I cleaned them up pretty good I thought, but don't really see much "brassy" color to the pins.. Do I need to clean them further or are they referring to the terminals for the plug thru the firewall?

Is your switch lighting up and in 1? Post up some pics of your PCM...

No.. the switch is not lighting up at all.. I just cleaned them a little more & re-installed it.. still nothing.. I thought I had the wire backwards & that may have been it...

I did the same thing when I first installed mine. I pulled it all back out 2 times to check it,and then realized I had the wire plugged in backwards..lol

I wonder if you might be in the 0 mode. If you have instructions to put it and take it out of 0, try that. I have seen this before on here. In 0 mode, there is no number on the switcher.

I was PM'ing with Clay last nite & he suggested that. I went & tried that & still nothing.. But prior to that, i thought maybe I had the wire on wrong & changed it. It was almost 3:00 am, so I threw in the towel. I'm going to go out soon & go over my steps once again.. When should the switcher be lit up? All the time?? Only when the key is on?? is there nothing on the display in the 0 mode? I remember reading something about a decimal point...

It will display a number only when the key is on. Yes, there is something small in one of the corners that lights up when in 0 mode. I don't remember what it is, and don't know if it stays on all the time. I would e-mail Jody about this, he might get back to you soon. Diane may see this thread and post. I haven't seen her on in a while now.

EDIT: Don't forget. Don't have the keys in the ignition when messing with the chip, it could mess up the chip or/and the PCM.

When you put the key in the run position the display will light up. If it is in no start there will be a small dot somewhere on the display.

This may be a dumb question but you didn't pull the PCM with the keys in the ignition?

Make sure that the connector that goes through the firewall is on tight and correct.

No, I had the keys out the whole time. It was getting late, should have quit.. I just couldn't.. I'm hoping I just missed something simple.. I'm about to go out now & look things over again...

I didn't have the wire plugged into the back of my display controller all the way at first. Make sure it's in there nice and tight and use some tape to secure.

I just put mine in last week and like a few of the guys have already said, I had my plug that goes into the back of the display plugged in upside down at first. I flipped it around and bingo, it worked.

Ok, my problem seems to be getting worse.. I took things out.. double checked everything & re-installed. When i went to start it, this time, the chime works when I turn the key, but thats it.... Well my next thought was to take the DP tuner out all together & try it without it at all.. Still nothing, just the chime.. I turn the key & its dead !!!

It sounds like a contact problem. When you cleaned the contacts on the rear of the pcm did you scrape it with your fingernail until there was no more silicone on both sides then lighty clean it with the scotchbrite pad? Make sure that you didn't bend ant pins on the connector on the firewall side of the PCM.

My batteries aren't that old & the 1st time I tried it this morning, it cranked just fine.. There is absolutely nothing lighting up on the dash.. No WTS light or anything. Is it possible that the PCM is still in no start even though the DP tuner is out? A fuse blown somewhere?? I did a quick look at all the fuses & couldn't find anything that looked bad. I had the keys out every time I was messing with it. It kind of scares me that it won't do anything even when the Dp tuner is not installed. Is it possible I did something to the PCM ?
