I'm wanting to replace the radiator in my 69 F250 for my Cummins conversion... and I'm looking at the unviersal fit rads from Jeggs and Summit.
Anyone have any experience with these... will they be able to do a better cooling job over a stock radiator or just look good?
Our trucks have a huge frontal opening and a rather large factory cooling system. A FE from dry holds close to 5 gallons of coolant +/-, and when moving forward need no fan at all. Sitting and idling is where you have to be careful.
Bill can give you the part numbers and years available. I think I would look at a 4 row Modine (available from your favorite parts house) for a 77-79 351/400M and make sure that you design a fan/shroud system to go with it.
If you gotta spend money then the online guys can lower your pocket level.
I'm using a summit universal 19 x 31 in my 78 f150 4x4 and with dual 12" electric fans I have no problem cooling the 351m in the middle of summer at 100 degrees
