pulled a stupid move today i put a battery in my truck and hooked it up backwards and it fried one of the wires its the on that runs from the starter relay down to the alternator my question or problem is what else could i have or did i fry. i hooked everything up right after my incident and had nthing no lights nothing also im havin a hard time finding a replacement harness for what i cooked its repairable but i would like to replace with new if possible. the one i am referring to is the one off of the alrenator voltage regulator and off of the starter relay and it runs to the marker light relay as well Help me out boys i mechanic for a living so i had to swallow my pride a bit here to ask for some help and admit to makin a rookie mistake
That Harness Is most likely Obsolete. I would need the year of the truck, and if it's got a Idiot light or standard gauges for the altenator.
Might find a decent one in the wreckers.
Sounds like you fried the Fuseable links.
Possibly easier to replace the wires, and Fuse Links. IMO.
EDIT: As for what you could have fried... Worst case senerio is it fried every electrical device on the truck, from the radio, ignition module, computer to the altenator.
