im in ohio and on my 95 i had to replace the following parts because of rust and rust only:

-sawzaw the spare tire bracket off, because i have a cap and the beds 8 ft long, a spare tire fits

-radius arms(not the brackets, my drivers side arm rusted completely through, broke while driving downtown)

-leaf spring hangers/shackles(pass side shackle rusted through, leaf spring currently on bottom of bed)

-Running board supports(buddy made new out of roundstock and welded on, those rusted through and broke as well)

-Vacuum reservoir(the little coffee can under your hood, hole rusts into it and your egr solenoid loses vacuum, threw code 332 at me)

-front gas tank

-not so much rust but the sway bar bushings are from the weather here, i get a mean creak and some bad body roll. Soft sway bar bushings might as well not be there at all

So be glad. My truck might only have 39k miles, but rust is raping it like it's fresh meat in a jail

Since I replaced it, I kinda keep the rowdiness out of the ride for now. Can't believe the issue is spreading. Keep in touch.

How common is this problem? I am worried about mine doing this. What would cause it. I'm thinking that maybe when the bushings are shot it puts more stress on the bracket.

gpas old truck. he called me said hes buyin an 09 and wants to sell his 95 f150 eddie bauer standard cab long bed 302 auto. im like ok how much. he said 3500 i said 2500 he took it. little did i realize he had never changed the coolant and likely barely changed the oil. it had a CEL(vacuum reservoir fixed it, that was bc i actually bought a tomato juice can and used the factory fitting with some silicone and duct tape to fix it) and the real kicker, HE NEVER TOOK IT THROUGH A CAR WASH. Ohio winter roads ruin vehicles, moisture and salt. He only washed it himself in his driveway. The underside of this truck has been raped. I'm just waitin on **** to wither away and replace it. It's kinda good the radius arms went out now though, instead of on the highway where i'd most definitely wreck. So yeah, shes quite rusty, but the tuner car kids that picked on my 2.3L ranger dont **** with me anymore. First one to cut me off and floor it realized I was faster, and almost got ran over. Luckily for him, I didn't feel like having my insurance company pay for a korean car, because allstate gives me accident forgiveness and it renews every year. Last year on an iced over bridge I totalled a pontiac sunfire in my ranger and got rearended by a taurus. Only mechanical damage was my power steering line got kinked and sprung a slow leak, the stop leak power steering fluid fixed it. Body damage was pretty bad, new bumper, fender, grille, header panel, headlight. Subframe was mangled but a strap around a tree and some washers allowed me to attach the fender. So yes, I love my truck, especially how much of a grandpa truck it looks with the huge ARE cap on it, because scaring asian car drivers makes my day, and knowing I can hit them and not have my insurance go up just adds to it. Sorry for the rant just figure i'd explain why i dont get rid of this rust heap, i was offered a 95 deville AND 2000 cash for it. Mechanically perfect but had some cosmetic problems caused by his ex gf(key, baseball bat, that whole deal) . He was shocked when i told him no

It turned out to not be such a good deal, because I have spent $2400 on parts on top of that, and it still needs a few more things. But I still love this truck.

I just noticed the other day after I parked it, that the tire was touching the bumper.

You can probably just move that bumber ahead by 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch and that would fix your problem. What do you think?

I thought the front tanks were plastic and you could get either a plastic or steel for the rear.
