oil pressure

I have a 1998 F150/4.2 and I can be driving down the road and the oil pressure guage starts bouncing and it drops down to 0. The temp gauge goes up . I let it set for a while and I have oil pressure for a while then it starts doing it all over again. Would this be the oil pump or the tube stopping upor what?

if the oil is clean, new, and full, and the filter is good, then i would stop running and pull the motor to change the pump.

Does it knock when the gauge goes to 0? If not change out the oil pressure sending unit.

My son said it knocks when the temp goes up
