On my 67, where the floor boards meet the firewall, that big lip is rusted out on both ends of the cab. I pondered repairing it to the way it should be, then thought about taking a cut off wheel to it and go from there.
Is there any reason that it can't be done with out some bracing or strengthening? That area shouldn't flex much anyway, does it? And finally, does anyone have pics of something similar, like a really smoothed out wall?
