Smooth firewall
Craig,
I've seen them... seems like Mid-50 had them... might have been fiberglass. I thought about that but it's just too much work then you have to figure out routing and such... I like the looks of the stainless steel firewall covers a lot of the guys have... you can still route the wiring behind and under them... ' course that's just one more thing to polish, ain't it ???

BlitzKraig,
Love that smoothed firewall look. Wish I could do it on my '59, but I have so much @#$% coming thru the firewall (A/C hoses, heater hoses, wires, etc) . An engine compartment sure looks good with little to no wires and a clean, smooth firewall though. Makes all the difference in appearance IMO...
Happy 4th!

I know this ain't the slickie rod look, but I had the same mutlihole problem . Swiss cheesed for an aftermarket heater, poorly mounted resistors for the 12V conversion etc.
I hot wrenched a clean firewall off my junk truck painted it, laid it right on top of the existing firewall and pop riveted it on nicely.
Came out well enough where I have to point out that its been done.
Please no slings and arrows from the perfectionist majority out there

I used the tail gate off my junked out 82. after cutting it down & fitting all the pieces together it came out pretty well. I needed to have a 2" recess to gain clearence for a 428 CJ engine headers & an IFS steering rack. I now have a custom fire wall like no other even used the FORD block letters & saved myself $ 250 plus.

Craig-
Direct Sheet Metal makes a smooth firewall and floor pans for the 53-56 F100.
I've used one of their firewalls on a 37 Ford and was pleased.
They advertise in Classic Trucks but here is their info in case you don't have it: (619) 588-2925 or (800) 992-2925 for orders.
