i think it was mostly aimed at cold start isues, such as missing and white smoke.when i got mine flashed i didnt notice anything except a little less power, but ive never had starting issues with mine.
The latest flash preheats the injectors thru induction to eliminate stiction which causes cold start issues and after X amount of idling it exercises the variable turbo and idle rpm's. After about 3 to 4 min. of idle I can hear the rpm's change. I have not noticed any diff. in power and no change in mpg's.
I saw in an earlier post that there is supposed to be a sticker with the latest flash recorded on it somewhere under the hood. I can't find one anywhere on mine.
Same question about how you know which flash has been performed...the diesel tech here told me they reflash with the latest one on every PSD that comes through no matter what it is in for. Sound right?
The easiest way to find out if you have this flash is to let your truck idle for a couple minutes when its at opperating temp. The turbo will whistle for about 10 seconds then a slight rumble with a less pronounced whistle for 10ish seconds then rumble like a big block for about the same amount of time. Then start all over again.
