Expected boost pressures?

What should I expect to see for boost pressures in mild driving? Unloaded highway cruising, moderate accelleration from stops, idle?

I had problems with my boost gage installation... looks like I crushed the brass tube sleeves on the fittings... and want to know what I should expect to see when I have the gage working right.

I've got a 6637 and Banks intercooler, turbo housing, downpipe, and pyrometer installed, and want to get a good "before" readings on the pyro and boost gages before installing the chip.

mild driving and cruises you will see next to nothing.it wont build any boost until its under a good load, whether its heavy throttle or a big hill. the intercooler will "suck up" 3-4 psi boost but fear not because you lose 3-4 psi of hot air and gain back plenty of volume with the cold air thanks to the cooler. your max reading should be 17-20 psi since it seems you have no chip installed and this will be read between 3000 and 3400 rpm under full load, however i see you have a different turbo housing so i assume its a 1.0 instead of a 1.15. this will yield slightly higher numbers and the boost will start to build sooner.

Your not going to see much in easy driving and cruising, maybe 3 to 5 psi. Moderate accelleration maybe ten psi. Mine stock got about 15 psi pulling hard and now after my modes I can get 28 on a mountain pass pulling a 5er.

Thanks for the info. The gage showed zero except for a blip to 1 or 2 psi under moderate accelleration... couldn't give too much throttle on a suburban boulevard. Suspect I had significant obstruction in the pressure line. Will re-run the line with new sleeves and test on some long interstate on-ramps.

Want to make sure everything is working right before I put the chip in and close up the gages. Got some kayaking trips to West Virginia in April that will put me on some nice grades for testing.

Well, in my experiance that is going to depend a whole lot on the truck and mods. My truck is a bit differant animal than most here being a F-Superduty and 4.63 gears. I am heavy at 10,500 empty and the motor is spin'en. Before the mods it ran 0 boost anywhere under 65 mph (cruising on flat ground) Since installing the 6637, 3" down pipe and 4" straight pipe I now run 2-3 lbs at 55 mph and 5 at 65. Biggest change in boost came from the 3" down pipe. The mods also took my peak boost up 4-5 lbs to 24.
